These basic level drawing exercises are
intended for a beginner in drawing, how-
ever, the true subject is perception. Bring-
ing the right brain hemisphere functions
into focus and learning how to “see” in
new ways, the student will discover how
to transfer perceptual skills to thinking
and problem solving.
Michelle Doss Irvine, the instructor,
has her bachelor of fine arts degree in
graphic design from Auburn University.
She also teaches at the Alliance for the
Arts and Vino’s Picasso. She said, “I am
really looking forward to teaching this
course on Sanibel.”
The course is open to intermediate
and advanced artists as well. Materials
needed: sketchpad, pencils and eraser.

German Fest For All Ages
The Community House will bring in
the Hafenkapelle Harbor Band on
Friday, October 9 from 5 to 9 p.m.
All are invited to attend a night in
celebration of German Fest, Sanibel-style.
The 10-piece band will be performing
both German and American music – from
polkas to the chicken dance. There will
be German food such as beef rouladen,
red cabbage and spaetzel. Cost for adults
is $25, children (when accompanied by
an adult) are $5. Point Ybel Brewery will
be on hand to showcase their specialty
brews. Time To Make Wine will have
a demonstration on how to make beer.
