The Captiva Community Panel will
hold its regular monthly meeting
on Tuesday, September 8 begin-
ning at 9 a.m. in the Cone Rooms in
Chadwicks Square at South Seas Island
Resort. This meeting is open to all inter-
ested islanders and the public.
Among the agenda items:
• Presentation on a wetland fill permit
at 13470 Palmflower Lane
• Presentation on mangrove regulation
by the Florida DEP (tentative)
• Update on priority committees (ten-
• A Captiva Erosion Prevention
• A Captiva Fire District update.
• A Hurricane Preparedness and
Response Committee update.
• Other business as necessary.
Public participation is invited and
encouraged. The next Captiva Community
Panel meeting will tentatively be held on

Legion Post 123
On Sunday, September 6,
American Legion Post 123 will
host a potluck picnic. Call for
more event details. The following Sunday,
September 13, Post 123 will serve BBQ
ribs and chicken.
Every Wednesday through September,
Post 123 will host a ping pong tourna-
ment beginning at 5 p.m.
Nine-ball pool tournaments are played
every Monday starting at 5 p.m.
Tuesday’s special is soft shell or deep
fried tacos all day.
Hump Day specials are served all day
On Fridays, a six-ounce ribeye steak
sandwich is available all day. There are
daily specials as well as the popular half-
pound burgers. Food is served from 11
a.m. to 8 p.m . The public is welcome.
If you have a flag that needs to be
retired, drop it off at your convenience.
Hours are Monday through Saturday
from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m . and Sunday from
noon to 9 p.m.
American Legion Post 123 is located
at Mile Marker 3 on Sanibel-Captiva Road.

Sanibel City Hall will be closed
in observance of Labor Day on
Monday, September 7, and will
resume regular office hours on Tuesday,
Refuse, recycling and vegetation waste
collection by Advanced Disposal Services
scheduled for the week of September
7, will be one day later in observance of
Labor Day. Therefore, if your normal
pick-up day is Monday, September 7,
your waste will be picked up on Tuesday,
September 8. The altered schedule will
remain in place for the rest of the week.
The normal waste collection schedule will
resume on Monday, September 14.
The Sanibel Recreation Center
and Center 4 Life will be closed in
observance of Labor Day on Monday,
September 7, and will resume regular
office hours on Tuesday, September
8. If you have any questions, call the
Recreation Center at 472-0345 or the
Center 4 Life at 472-5743.
San Cap Motor
Club Cruise-In At
San Cap Motor Club is hosting
another cruise-in on Saturday,
September 5 at Periwinkle Place
Shopping Center. From 9 to 11 a.m .,
all are welcome to join in and share
their enthusiasm of all modes of trans-
portation. The event is casual with no

Iam looking for my biological father. I
have a picture of us, taken on Sanibel
Island in 1976. He owned a house
there. I am hoping if I send this picture
around, someone might recognize him
and know his name.
I don’t have any biological parents,
don’t need anything from him, as my
adopted parents are amazing, but this is
