Dear Mom & Me,
I volunteer at a local nursing home,
visiting the patients and bringing a little of
the outside world to them.
I feel so sorry for some of these
people because their families say that
they are too busy and do not have time
One resident has a visitor each Mon-
day at 1 p.m. I asked the director who
this woman was and could she be part
of our volunteer team? I was surprised to
hear that she is a paid visitor. The resi-
dent’s daughter is too busy to visit. What
is happening in our society?
Society is changing drastically and with
increased longevity, many social and fam-
ily problems have developed.
Some people have had a family but
they are all scattered around the world
and it is impossible for them to visit.
Others are working, including the wives,
in stress-filled occupations and also trying
to raise children, and rarely have the time
This family is doing their best to work
around their problems and is prepared to
pay someone to make a friendly visit.
You are doing a great volunteer service
and the residents you visit are most fortu-
nate. Keep up the good work.
Society is different now than what it
was just a few years ago.
You have no idea what stresses and
difficulties that many of these families are
facing and I think you are judging based
on your own standards.
The family who is paying for a visitor
to check on their parent or family mem-
ber is showing concern and keeping up
with their care and treatment. The family
could just ignore this person and go on
with their own lives.
Increased longevity is fine if people are
well and can enjoy their extra years, but it
can also create problems if the older fam-
ily member has multiple health problems.

A: When you
have an expectation
and trust that your significant other will
follow through and does not, it can lead
to resentment, frustration and bewilder-
ment. There is obviously an avoidance
issue going on as he is avoiding some-
thing. Avoidance happens to be the num-
ber one coping technique.
This type of behavior is damaging to a
relationship even if it is in the beginning
stages of dating. Ask him why he does
not follow through and see if you can
understand the breakdown in his miscom-
munication. You can also ask him what
he wants and make him aware that what
he says is not in alignment of how he
behaves. If he continually hurts and disap-
points you, you have to get clear and ask
your inner guidance what you want and
if it is worth it for you to continue this
You cannot change his behavior but
you can change how you choose to
handle yours. At the very least, if he is
just preoccupied or too busy to follow
through, do you really want this kind of
person in your life? Ask yourself what you
really want and if it is for someone to be
present and cognizant of honoring and
respecting you, then perhaps you need to
move on. Your intuition already knows so
tune in and your answer lies within.

Is there a time of
day when you
or unfocused, but
really need to be
alert and mentally
tapping your K 27
points helps get the meridians moving
forward, providing increased stamina,
there are times when the meridian energy
is chaotic and literally scrambled. This is
the time to use the Wayne Cook Posture
(part of the 5 Minute Routine), which dis-
sipates the feeling of being overwhelmed
or hysterical; provides clarity to concen-
trate, confront someone or find balance
after a confrontation. Clues that energy
is scrambled include not recalling what
you were doing, losing your words when
talking, confusing right and left, reversing
letters or numbers, or you keep reading
the same paragraph over and over.
Developed by Wayne Cook to address
stuttering and dyslexia, this technique
is so effective in connecting the energy
circuitry between the forebrain and the
reptilian back brain, it is now used to
harmonize the energy throughout the
body. Energies may be scrambled due to
prolonged stress, preventing the nervous
system from getting rest to begin rebuild-
ing, or from a defense mechanism forcing
you to stop and regroup. Whatever the
reason, the result is the same; an inability
to assimilate and store new information
due to the energy disconnect between the
brain and the body’s energies. The tech-
nique is easy:
Step 1. Sit with spine straight. Place
left foot over right knee. Hold left ankle
with right hand and bottom of left foot
with your left hand.
Step 2. Breathe in through the nose
while stretching leg toward you. Exhale
through mouth while relaxing body.
Repeat at least four times.
Step 3. Switch by placing right foot
over left knee, etc. and repeat four times.
Step 4. Uncross legs and place all
fingertips and thumbs of both hands
together creating a ”steeple,” resting both
thumbs above the bridge of the nose.
Breathe slowing in through nose and out
through mouth three times. On exhale,
place fingers in middle of forehead, push
in to stretch skin on forehead and pull
fingers to temples.
Now feel you will feel calm, be able
to focus, think more clearly and learn
more efficiently. Use it before doing any
presentation or activity requiring intense
focus. As a teacher, musician, artist,
CEO, lawyer, doctor or long distance
truck driver – it works!
Have fun with your energy! Next
